She made history in 2021 when she was elected as the first Latina mayor of Providence, RI. Then she became the first woman of color elected as Lieutenant Governor of RI.
As one of RIC's most famous graduates, award-winning actress Viola Davis has reached the pinnacle of success in film and television. Since beginning her career on the RIC stage, Davis has blazed a trail with historic Emmy, 格莱美奖, 奥斯卡, and Tony wins while advocating for diversity and equality in the arts.
